That was well done - a difficult scene to write, I imagine, but you made it very plausible .LBJ

Author Reply: Thanks so much, Sidonie!

You bet I had a hard time coming up with all of this. I changed it around quite a lot until I was satisfied with the feeling, so I'm glad that in the end, you found that you could follow the strange stuff my brain threw up. ;->

'citizens laughing and singing' - difficult to even consider this knowing Eowyn may be laying on her death bed!

Poor Eomer has GOT to get over this soon??? 'having to face the people who had betrayed him...'

Bless this little one - 'My only wish would be that you cure...'

Oh good grief - you are killing my heart - poor Theoden - I know he has put Eomer thru so much - but really - my heart goes out to him.... 'after the charade Théoden had forced on him'

And dearest Eomer - so bitterly betrayed.... everything Theoden does digs the hole even deeper!

And Ceorl's wife - how wondrous she is! I love her! 'He is at the end of his strength, and he has no one to help him.' Beautifully written as is the whole chapter.

Author Reply: Hi Agape,

and thanks so much for your latest review. I'm glad you liked the last chapter, even if it widened the rift between éomer and Theoden even further. I loved writing Éomer's conversation with Lady Glenwyn; it was about time he heard what happened from a different perspective. For now, the pain and feelings of having been betrayed are still very strong (it is only one day since he's been back), but perhaps the news he's learned will help him to put his anger behind him.

Looking forward to hearing more from you,

best wishes,
Katzilla

Hi,
I have been reading your stories for a while and never leave you a review. They are all great; I'm never disappointed with any of your stories. So please, keep writing, despite the no constructive reviews that some anonymous people will leave you, be sure that there are others that read and enjoy it.

Glad that Eomer will listen to Éothain, he really doesn't deserve Eomer disdain. He stayed in Edoras for the right reasons and Eomer has to understand that not everything is about him, his country and people are before him and what Éothain did was right, he was the only one left behind to protect the Edoras people from the Worm, and the one that kept them on the palace away from the city. He certainly paid a high price for that. Does Eomer know what happen to their friend, the one that Eowyn sent with help? That will give him an idea of what was happening in Edoras when he was out.
Hope that when Eowyn wake up, help him to forgive and understand some people, include his uncle.
I like Eothain, and now I just remembered that you kill him in one of your stories, poor guy. Also like Thor, he is very loyal and he proved in another of your tales.
Again, thanks for this wonderful story.

Author Reply: Hi Fantasia,

and thanks so much for letting me know your thoughts, all the more since you came out of hiding to respond to that strange review! I'm not really bothered by it, though, because all other reviews show me that apparently, some people *do* enjoy my stories (despite their dark, sinister atmospheres), and I can well ignore non-constructive comments.

You are right of course, when you say that Éomer has a few things to realise, as well, but I think his conversation with Céorl's widow helped him get there. Just remember, it is still the first day after he came back; everything is still very fresh and he will need some time to overcome his bitter feelings, which I think, are justified as well. Once he has all the information though, the son of Eomund might be able to see the truth.

I'm quite fond of Thor, too, actually, and hope to employ him in any further stories I may write in the future, as well. He is a very giving character, and perhaps one day, he might even get his own story

And Éothain certainly had some rough times as well. As a matter of fact, the story where I killed him ("A Rohan Ghost Story") was the first in the LOTR-realm I ever wrote, and I was still struggling with everything and especially Rohirric names, and the poor guy just had the bad luck of having survived the RingWar, so that he was still *available* for me to kill him off. I had no idea that later, I would develop his role to become Éomer's best friend. I am now contemplating of rewriting "Ghost Story", because his death will have a significant effect on Éomer, but I'm struggling with a few things I don't know how to tweak yet.

Anyway, thanks so much for your review, and I look forward to maybe hear from you again.

Best,
Katzilla

LOL - what a bunch of pathetic whiners! I don't think I ever read a story where the Rohans got portrayed as such a bunch of losers, your precious Eomer most of all (assuming he is supposed to be your 'hero', and this fic is not meant as a parody, in which case, of course, it would be brillaint).

Keep on writing, I got some good laughs out of that!

Gripping chapter. Needless to say, I hope that somehow Theoden and Eomer will be reconciled... but not now... perhaps Gandalf might be able to help...???

As for Aragorn and Eowyn - absolutely excellent look into her mind. I have every hope??? that she will be saved and brought back.

As for Grima - find and kill the sucker!

Again - great chapter, as always. You do not disappoint your readers!

Author Reply: Hello Agape,

did I already mention what your reviews mean to me? Especially in times like these when it seems that I have to fight for every single word. I'm glad you liked the little glimpse into Éowyn's mind, there is still a whole lot more to come. Aragorn will have his hands full with the shieldmaiden of Rohan!

As for Gríma... I still need the guy... ;->

Thanks for your comments & best wishes,
Katzilla

Welcome back,Kat! This was a great chapter.Eomer's simmering rage was almost palpable as he looked upon those that betrayed him and those who could have saved Eowyn.Th tension between Eomer and Theoden is just about ready to explode again, I think.Gandalf will need to calm things down a little!

At last, Aragorn has seen the darkness in Eowyn's mind.I thought you captured Eowyn's inner hiding place very well.It was a little eerie to have Aragorn hear noises but he was wise enough to depart when he did.No wonder Eomer was alarmed when Aragorn collapsed.Aragorn's battle with Eowyn's fear is something I'm really looking forward to.

Update soon.

Ali.

Author Reply: Hi Ali,

great to hear from you, and thanks so much for your review! RL really had my butt these past weeks (and it looks as if this will not change in the foreseeable future), because I really wanted to be ready with this story in time for the MEFAs... Oh well, next year it is.

I'm glad you like the new chapter, because it took an eternity for me to get a handle on this. I hope the next one will come to me more easily. Yup, I'm also looking forward to writing Aragorn's foray into Eowyn's very disturbed mind!

Thanks for the encouragment!

Cheers,
Katzilla

You absolutely break my heart with your words - so much pain - so endless... Good grief - I hope this eventually turns out well; it would hurt so much to know that Theoden died sundered from Eomer...

"...Béma, so much bitterness in the lad’s eyes! Where was the young man who had looked so proudly at him from the back of his horse on the day when he had joined the Armed Forces, Théoden wondered with growing despair. Where was the young man who had embraced him so heartily upon his return from his first year in service, laughing with happiness?

"It is very convenient to have a Gríma Wormtongue to blame for everything, isn’t it? You think that his evilness frees you of all responsibility. No matter what damage you inflicted with your words, it was the Worm’s fault. It is a cheap way out for you, for he is no longer here to object." For a moment, they stared at each other in silence, and it seemed to Théoden that he literally saw the shutters in his nephew’s gaze close, shutting him out… forever. "

Wow! So many things happening in this chapter and all important! Even Merry and Pippin - for did not Eomer need a brief respite from the darkness threatening to engulf him.

His time with Eowyn - so hurtful. His time with the Hobbits - so helpful. His time with Theoden - so sorrowful. His time with Gandulf - so uplifting!

This story is so amazing! I discovered it shortly after you published chapter 65 and read the whole thing straight through, so I've been waiting desperately for following chapters. This chapter certainly didn't disappoint! (Well, it did, but only because it ended.) ;) I love how you portray the characters (especially Eomer and Eowyn), and I'm eager to see how the story will progress after Eowyn wakes up (assuming, of course, that she does). I'm also eager to learn of Aragorn and the others' reactions to the situation in Edoras and Eomer's reaction to finding out that Wormtongue escaped. Please, keep up the great work and update soon!

Author Reply: Hi Cassandra,

and likewise a - albeit very delayed - "Welcome to the Story!" to you! I was really glad to find your review upon my return, as it is always wonderful when even toward the end of a long story, new readers join the bandwagon. I hope the new chapter will not leave you disappointed and look forward to hearing from you again! :-)

Greetings,
Katzilla

Ack! Unless you're really going for misdirection, it sounds like it's time for Aragorn to arrive!

Author Reply: Well, he's already there, but someone has to show him the way Éowyn's bedroom, first... (now why does that sound corny?)
