Untold Tales of the Mark: The Banishment of Éomer  by Katzilla 84 Review(s)
AllacayaReviewed Chapter: 11 on 1/30/2006
Now you made my day (:
But the ending the suspense - ahhh.
I like the idea of Éomer and Théodred discussing what to do about Rohan's situation, btw. I think it is very realistic. (: After all they were rather close and it is not that long ago that Théodred died. Yes I can very much see how he would do that. So I like it a lot.
As I mentioned I'm all exited and worried of what will happen. Now it's just gotten worse! Éowyn is still uncertain of Éomer's fate and Élric's. I sincerely hope she will find out the truth!! I so want her to be able to do something!! And now you have me really worried about both Éomer and Elfhelm. Is it orc's or Grima's creatures, that have found him?? Would be too early for the men Elfhelm had sent out. But anyway even if there're orc's now, Éomer will manage until help comes.
And I must say I highly doubt Elfhelm will be allowed to talk to Éowyn. Nor do I believe I fear the worm will let him leave Edoras peacefully once he has arrived. I'm so sure that he'll try and be gone with him.
Anyway thank you for the quick update.(: It is a wonderful evil cliffhanger. I'll try and survive until the next one, haha. So yes I liked it very much indeed.

Author Reply: Hi Allacaya,

glad to see that we continue to make each other's days. :-) Oh yeah, I love nasty endings, I'm not a nice person. (smiles innocently)

Yup, Elfhelm might be a bit too optimistic about talking to Éowyn, but then again, he and Céorl are both mighty men of war. AT least they will put Gríma to the test. And I've got a feeling that we fill find out what (or who) it is at the entrance to Éomer's cave...;-)

Please stay tuned, and thank you for the heads-up!

This is an awesome story! I like it a lot. The story line, the way you portray the characters...
What will happen to Éowyn? Will she know Gríma is just blackmailing her and lying?
Will Erkenbrand ride out to Éomer's help?
Will he be able to talk to Éowyn beforehand?
What about Éothain? Maelwen?
Will they reach Eómer in time?
I cursed my internet connection tenfold the past evnenings when it kept deserting me after every chapter! I'm really looking forward to reading your updates. It is a great story - a shame you haven't gotten more reviews.
Please continue with it.

Author Reply: Hello Allacaya,

thank you so much for your review, it made my day!!! :-)

Seriously, it is a bit dispiriting to write your heart out and while I see that the story gets read, nobody (or next to nobody) will take even a second to let me hear her/ his thoughts. *sighs*

But then again, I noticed that there hardly seems to be an audience for Éomer adventure/ drama (at least not on this site);most of those who will read stories featuring him will only do so if it is about him getting to meet Lothíriel. Which is why I was so happy with your review. I hope you will find this latest update to your taste and that your internet connection won't fold on you when you're trying to read it, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you again!

Best wishes,
Katzilla

This is getting more and more exciting. At least we know he survives. LBJ

Author Reply: Hi Lady Bluejay, and thanks for your review!

Well, at least he survives *for now*, LOL... after all, our good Éomer had not risen to the rank of a Marshal if he wasn't resourceful in a tight situation. But then again, the story is just starting to unfold (sorry, I seem to be in teasing mode today ;->)

Looking forward to hearing more from you, and hopefully, from others, too. Come on, people, I don't bite! Honestly. :-)

****It was meant as a ride of shame, a last passing through the city while its inhabitants deliberately turned their back on the convicted man. Banishment did not simply mean to be expelled from the land one loved, it also meant that it was forbidden to ever utter the name of the expelled person ever again, neither in conversation, nor in song. Éomer’s entire existence would be erased and forgotten by the people of the Mark. For the Rohirrim, who were a people with no written language, it was the worst punishment thinkable.****

Eomer isn't starting out too well on his exile. Noone in the country will recognize his existence. No food, no weapons and who knows what Grima has hunting him. He was probably lucky that he was not pelted with refuse on leaving Edoras. If any decide to follow Eomer also face exile. Not good.

Author Reply: Hi Rikwen,

thank you for your review! Nope, Éomer isn't starting too well. After all, Gríma is following a plan, and the cunning counsellor will do everything in his power to make sure his foe is helpless when he strikes... which doesn't mean that Éomer stands entirely alone in this, nor would he have risen to the position of Third Marshal at his young age if he wasn't a resourceful warrior himself.

The players are only beginning to arrange their figures on the board...
