Elladan and Elrohir's Not So Excellent Adventure  by Fiondil 44 Review(s)
vampfan30Reviewed Chapter: 3 on 10/29/2006
I am enjoying this story quite a bit. I think most of us older ones can remember the time when our parents watched or had someone else watch our every move. We didn't appreciate it at the time, but, usually, it kept us out of serious trouble. Ditto for Lord Elrond & his lovely, albeit, trouble-prone boys....
They will come to appreciate it after all is said & done- though, it may take a few centuries. ^__^

Author Reply: Yes, growing up is hard. You think you can handle things, but your elders often know better and try to help you, even if you don't know it or appreciate it. I guess it's as true for Elves as it is for Men... Glad you are enjoying the story so far.

I thought they were both going to be Orc dinner for sure or tortured, but Im glad to see them rescued, as I said before I love the couple tracking them and their personalities! What luck they have all had ,this could of turned into a tragedy. The dwarves are very sweet!

Author Reply: Obviously, Someone is looking out for the Twins (and it's not necessarily the Author!). I'm glad you like Thandir and Eluwen. I've grown fond of them myself. As for the dwarves, I wanted to portray them and their relation with elves in a better light than is normally done. Even though Eregion is no more and Celebrimbor is long dead, there is still friendship (however wary) and commerce between elves and dwarves at this time. It will be another 1700 years or more before Khazad-dûm will fall to the Balrog and the suspicion and mistrust between the races grows.

I like actions and I like this story with lots of those. Elrond will wait for the twins in Lorien, that means he still trust his twins ability to arrive Lorien save. Or...he trust the guides instead?! Please update soon.

Author Reply: Glad you are enjoying the story. As to just how much Elrond trusts his sons... or the guides... remains to be seen. I plan to update on a regular basis, every other day or so until the story is complete. You won't have long to wait between chapters, I promise.

Once again you have me laughing and thoroughly enjoying the (mis)adventures of the Twins. I am glad that you are able to give us another traveling story. I am enjoying this one as much as Tâd Edhel a Firion!

I can't wait to read about the look on the twin's faces when they see their father waiting for them!

Author Reply: Glad you are enjoying the story, Idril. I enjoyed writing this story as much as I enjoyed writing "Tâd Edhel a Firion" (if not more so). I guess having traveled a bit myself I can appreciate how people can "fall" into (mis)adventures quite easily and unintentionally.

The twins are in for it...
I hate to think what Elrond would do to them....
:-P

Author Reply: Probably what every parent has ever done: give them what for and then hold them close as if he never wants to let them go. At least, if I had any children, that's what I would do....

Wow - they did get into a lot of trouble rather quickly, didn't they?

Author Reply: Well what do you expect from the sons of Elrond? They may think they're grown up but they're really a long ways away from it still. And trouble seems to be their middle names anyway.

Fiondil,
That was hilarious. Do me a favor, lock El & El in a room for the next century (or two) please. I would ask how is it possible for two people to get into so much trouble in so short time but unfortunately I already know.

Thindir and Eluwen are going to be ready to sail after this.
Until next time, your fan

Eliza

Author Reply: I did have a lot of fun writing the scene with the bear cub and could see the twins running along the ridge with the cub after them so clearly. I was laughing myself even as I was writing it. And the scouts will probably think long and hard before they ever except another such assignment as this one is turning out to be.

this is great! I can't wait to see what happens next! the poor scouts, though. I wonder what they'll have to say to Elrond when they get to Lorien? Or what the twins will say? Or Elrond himself? I'm sure Galadriel will find the whole thing completely amusing, though......Of course, that is, if Elrond can make it to Lorien without incident himself. He IS their father, after all......hmmmmm. Will Glorfindel be going along as well? :D Please, hurry with the next chapter!

Author Reply: Glad you're enjoying the story. Yes, Elrond is indeed their father and you will have to wait and see what, if anything, happens to him along the way. And you know Elrond can't go anywhere without Glorfindel tagging along *grin*. The story is completely written and I am posting chapters as my schedule allows, though I suspect it will be completely posted within the next week or wo, so just hang in there.

It must be very handy to be able to send the Secret Service out to pursue your sons through their first brave, on-their-own adventure. A great comfort to the folks at home! Only, typically of Elrond's heedless offspring, they seem to have put themselves in the way of rather more danger than anyone expected.

Looking forward to more!

Author Reply: Thanks Bodkin. Glad you're enjoying the story. Yes, the Twins are very adapt at putting themselves in the way of more danger than they need to be, and obviously an avalanche won't be the worse of it. Stay tuned.

this is the first thing I have read by you, & I got to say, wow...
besides, I'm a sucker for any story that contains the twins & Erestor....^__^

Author Reply: Well, thank you. I hope I continue to live up to your expectations. I hope you like this enough to want to read my other stories as well.
