While on the Quest  by Grey Wonderer 57 Review(s)
EstellaBReviewed Chapter: 2 on 1/16/2008
I think I've said it before, but I'll definitely say it again-I heart your Frodo! As an example I hold up-

“Do not elbow me in the ribs again, Meriadoc or I shall show you exactly what sort of physical condition I am in by wrestling you to the ground

Oh yes, and he could too, I'm sure :D Merry hasn't had any Entdraught yet, after all.

“You have to do something in order to get blisters, Pip. Sleeping doesn’t usually give one blisters.”

“I was on watch until we left in the boats this morning and so naturally I slept a wee bit. Boromir didn’t seem to mind.”

“Boromir was probably relieved that you weren’t trying to fish from the moving boat again like yesterday.”

I know that's a bit overboard on the quoting, but it was just so funny! I love Pippin. Pippin is remarkably like me (not entirely a good thing)... And the gloves thing at the end was priceless :D:D Thanks for this excellent story!

Author Reply: I'm so glad you like my version of Frodo. Someone has to keep Merry and Pippin and Strider in line on this 'mission, Quest, thing.' Sam can't do everything. Thank you for quoting the bits you liked. It's always fun to know what people enjoyed. Thanks for reading, Pip, er, EstellaB.

If I didn't know first-hand how painful blisters can be I would have been snickering all the way through this. As it is I was smiling hard! But I blame Sam for forgetting gloves for Frodo at least. After all his pack was stuffed with all the other little things that his Master might need!

Author Reply: Yes, poor Sam just didn't have room for Mr. Frodo's gloves what with everything else he brought. But I doubt that Strider will get off that easy! He was supposed to be the all-knowing guide on this adventure and he should have had gloves for everyone. hehehe
Smiling hard? That could give you TMJ and I hear that's worse than blisters. Be careful, harrowcat.

Delightful! This was absolutely delightful. All that dialog, hilariously done.

Thank you for another wonderful laugh with our hobbits, GW :-)

(Pippin would mention the gloves)

Author Reply: This one started out on LJ some time ago as the result of another of Shirebound's posts and just for fun and to keep in practice I wrote it completely in dialog. Saves me the trouble of writing all that pesky stage-setting stuff. hehehe
Glad you enjoyed it!
And there really should have been gloves for the hobbits! Pip was right.

*snerk*

This was hilarious! You know, the Quest will never seem quite the same.

And Pippin's right--they should have had gloves. But it's not Stider's fault--Celeborn gave them the boats. I'm sure Galadriel should have included gloves when she was passing out the presents!! How thoughtless of her!!

*giggle* I'm just imagining Sam trying to help row! *snicker*

Author Reply: This was all thanks to another Shirebound's ideas. Glad you enjoyed it!
When I was originally writing this the thing about the gloves didn't occur to me until I got to that part in the story and then all of the sudden, there it was! Pippin just slipped that one right into the story and then I did wonder that the hobbits didn't have any gloves. I know why they didn't have shoes but gloves would have been useful.
Poor Sam! The boats just weren't his thing at all but as Strider pointed out, Sam did so much elsewhere for the Fellowship. I wonder what might have happened if he had rowed? hehehe

That was really cute! You write the hobbit chatter so well! I loved how they were all trying to set Sam at ease, besided Pippin anyway ;) Thanks for the laugh!

Author Reply: You are very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed this and thanks so much for stopping by and reviewing!

Oh, I remember this one! I love it! Poor Pippin means well, but he apparently has a healthy appetite for "furry foot". :-P Really enjoyed Sam's point of view. Excellent tale!

Well, gotta run off to work again...

Author Reply: Thanks for reading again and reviewing again! I do think Pippin had a gift for putting his foot into his mouth at times and I did have fun writing this from Sam's POV. I am starting to get comfortable with Sam now.
Don't work too hard but make lots of money!

Ah, yes, I remember reading this (on LJ, was it?)

Pippin, Pippin... not the soul of tact at this point in your life, are you? *g*

(good chuckle. I needed one today.)

Author Reply: I posted it on LJ after Shirebound posted a photo of Sam in one of the Elvin boats and posed the questions about what he might be thinking.
Pippin wasn't exactly tactful, was he? hehehe
Glad it made you chuckle! Thank you for the reviews!

This is probably one of your best disclaimers yet. And to think you didn't have to dredge it up yourself, all you had to do was transcribe an overheard conversation...

Author Reply: You encouraged this behavior, you know. You were the first person to begin reading these prologues on a regular basis. At that point, I started thinking of them as part of the entertainment. I did get lucky with this one. Pippin and Merry did all the work.
Thank you for all of your prologue reviews. At the moment, the prologue of this series is getting more reviews than the story! I love it!

Very nice to see Frodo in a good mood and enjoying himself! A nice treat for us and Sam. And that disclaimer was a hoot - especially the last bit of dialogue. The professor should have had more of a disclaimer himself.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you. I do like a happy Frodo. Until recently I avoided writing much Quest because I don't like writing Frodo all sad and under the influence of the Ring. (That and the fact I tend to twist the canon in knots at times.)
Glad you enjoyed the prologue! Thanks for the review.

NeiliaReviewed Chapter: 1 on 1/10/2008
Love those Hobbits! Merry and Pippin are a scream. Frodo and Sam are...well, what can I say? They look out for each other so well that it is no wonder that they are gwaydor (sp?). Love, Neilia

Author Reply: Thank you! I like writing Merry and Pippin and so I am very glad you enjoyed them. And there was no finer friendship than Frodo's with Sam. As to the spelling, I am the wrong person to ask on that. If it weren't for the spell check I'd not be allow to post here or anywhere else. Take care and do come back!
