Fiondil's Tapestry  by Fiondil 715 Review(s)

Heh! This was really funny. I can just imagine Tulkas barrelling in, laughing like a loon and demanding that pint.

Is it conceivable that a Vala might be just a little bit... erm... immature? Because if it is, Tulkas would certainly be the best candidate. *ducks*

Author Reply: Hello Soldedad. I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. I had fun with it myself. *grin* When I first introduced the "Laughing Vala" inn in my "Elf, Interrupted" series, everyone wanted to know where the name came from, so that is how the story got written.

Tulkas is probably 'younger' than the other Valar, though defining 'young' when dealing with these ancient and timeless beings may be problematic. *grin* He does have his serious side and he isn't as stupid as people make him out to be, at least not as I've written him.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Atar Fiondil,

Just been reading through some of your ficlets before bed, and I was wondering if this one connected at all with the later "Beyond the Galvorn Door". So...did this happen after Feanor (possibly) made it beyond the Door? It couldn't have been before. Or is this what he's seeing as he's standing there, until he finally wakes up? I have to say, I still adore the Valar's treatment of Feanor here...I love Namo, Manwe and Varda. Tulkas amuses me too.

I wasn't sure whether this counted as a review for this one or that one! :p

Tye-melin,

Kaylee

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. This story is indeed connected with my later "Beyond the Galvorn Door". Originally I was planning a three-part story with the overarching title of "Beyond the Galvorn Door". This story here was to have been the third part and part one was what later became the Loom story, but I never could come up with the middle section, so when this particular prompt came along I used the Fëanor story for it with some modifications. When I was hunting around for an appropriate Halloween story last year I decided to use part one of the orignal Galvorn story, again modifying it to make it a stand-alone story. In this case, this is story is what Fëanor is experiencing after he's passed through the Door. He is, in fact, the last of them to be released, so in effect this is his judgment which he refused to allow when he first arrived in Mandos, so this story takes place sometime in the last Age of Arda before the Dagor Dagorath. Hope this answers your questions.

Oh, this is such a warm fuzzy, just what I needed, the old bod has been letting me know it is not what it used to be. I can just imagine the three of them cuddled on Atar's lap fast asleep with their brothers and sisters gathered around them.
Why do they have to grow up?
A pity Melkor could not have kept his innocence, he has missed out on so much, one day though, at the end of all things, he will be returned to it, and to Atar.
Lynda

Author Reply: Reading the ones you missed, Lynda? *grin* I'm happy to know you enjoyed this and it was just what you needed. Sometimes warm and fuzzy is the only way to go. And we can only hope that Melkor will indeed be returned to his first innocence at the end. Thanks for reviewing, even after all this time. I appreciate it.

Rereading this and just wondered why no one twigged to it being Midsummers when he takes off. Since most people would know his story and the manner and time of his death. (Just thought of it myself:<)!)
Off to visit the Orclings on Monday, be back next week.
Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Perhaps it just never really occurred to them, especially those who were not originally from Gondolin. People can be pretty dense when they want to be and I don't think elves are excluded from that particular failing. We certainly have plenty of examples of the Firstborn being stupid or deluded, don't we? *grin* Enjoy your visit. Thanks for reviewing.

Definitely a good decision, to see for himself that Dol Guldur is indeed thrown down! Love the discussion between them.

Author Reply: Thanks, Larner. I appreciate you letting me know how much you enjoyed this.

"Eomer'ar higil na Legolas lanc"
Hm, yes one could see how that could be misconstrued, especially if one has a mind that dips into the gutter on occasion!
Nothing wrong with well written 'gutter' though!
Lynda

Author Reply: Nothing wrong at all! *LOL*

I am have just been reading through you stories again. . .And forgot how much I enjoy 'em! :D

Aw, poor Thranduil! Gah! Namo! Stop being mean to Legolas! *rolls eyes* Honestly, they think they are gods and can get away with EVERYTHING, hmph! ;D

Oropher?! You have Oropher there and he is not in the scene?! o-o That reminds me, you mentioned Thranduil had other children in a separate piece, and his eldest died correct . . .? Hehe, you already know what I am going to ask you. ;-) It seems that every review I leave I am always hinting (would bribing be better?) for more! Lol. Well my friend, I am afraid you are cursed with excellent writing and so the plea for more of your works is the outcome. :3

RL only so-so? Well I hope it gets more exciting for you, or relaxing if its already hectic. ;D

Cheers,

MP

Author Reply: Hi MP. I´m glad you are re-reading and enjoying my Tapestry stories. I am afraid that at the moment the Muse has other plans for me, but I will keep in mind your request for stories about Oropher and Legolas´ older brother. *grin*

And sometimes I think I am cursed indeed, for I have story ideas coming out of my ears and I fear I will not live long enough (I am over 50, after all) to get them all written. *sigh* But I appreciate your kind words about my writing ability. Thank you.

Oh, this is just as funny as it was the first time around!
Someday, the muse willing, you will have to write a seventh age story! It would be interesting to see how things have progressed in Aman, or not as the case may be, some how I don't think it will be crisscrossed by freeways!
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Sorry it took me so long to answer this. I meant to do so when I was last online but ran out of time. I doubt Aman would be crisscrossed by freeways either. *lol* I am glad you found this as funny the second time around as the first. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Here I am! Re-reading this tale because of the other chapter. I liked it just as much this time around; it gave me shivers! There's just one thought I had that made me burst out laughing...

“Come,” he demanded. “Whom do ye serve, Light or Mirk? Who is the maker of mightiest work? Who is the king of earthly kings, the greatest giver of gold and rings? Who is the master of the wide earth?” He stood now, his stance one of great imperiousness as a dark veil seemed to cover him, making him even more menacing than before.

“Repeat your vows, Orcs of Bauglir!: Death to light, to law, to love! Cursed be moon and stars above! May darkness everlasting old that waits outside in surges cold drown Manwë, Varda, and the sun! May all in hatred be begun, and all in evil ended be, in the moaning of the endless Sea!”

A pause to take that in, and then...

Kaylee's brain: He doesn't have much of an ear for poetry, does he? He shouldn't quit his day job...well, actually, he should, but he didn't...

*hysterical laughter* Now I can tell I should really eat something and wake up, lol.

Masterfully done as always!

Tye-melin,

Kaylee!

Author Reply: Hi, Kaylee. Well, you have to blame Tolkien for Sauron's lack of poetic sense. *grin* I didn't make it up, promise.

Glad you enjoyed re-reading this story. Thanks for letting me know.

Tye-melin, yeldë indonyo.

Hi meldonya!

Reviewing again, just because I felt silly when I realized what you'd done in EI2, lol.

So the Bronweg in EI2 is THIS Bronweg, not the other one?! I admit I completely forgot about this little tale even though I'd reviewed it and found it so funny. I had to read it over again! :) It was just as good another time around.

I am glad to see the elflings still enjoy the place the Maiar showed them, and hopefully will for a long time to come.

I also hope the elves of Tol Eressea will *all* be healed, in good time.

Tye-melin,

Kaylee!

Author Reply: Hi, Kaylee. Yes, the Bronweg in EI2 is THIS Bronweg, along with his brother, Handir. We'll meet their sister,Nimbrethil, in a later chapter, now all grown up. *grin*

I'm glad you enjoyed this story the second time around. Thanks for letting me know. Tye-melin!
