Ah, but it is fun when the Hobbits find something private to laugh at in such a manner. And to have them tickle Gandalf's fancy--perfect! Heh! Author Reply: Thanks! I'm sure the hobbits and Gandalf will be diplomatic enough to keep the source of their mirth from Legolas.

This was so adorable! Loved it! Author Reply: Frodo deserves the most delicious potions Middle-earth can devise!

LOL! Never made the connection before either. I wonder if Frodo every explained (in private) to Aragorn what had caused the reaction he and the other hobbits had to Legolas' tale. Sure as Yavanna made little green apples, he didn't try to explain it to Legolas. Loved Gandalf in this. He would certainly understand hobbit humor if no one did. Author Reply: I have a feeling the hobbits kept this little secret to themselves. :) Gandalf did seem to keep 'two eyes, as often as he could spare them' on his hobbits.

A great gap-filler, Shirebound. The quote at the end fits seamlessly in with this little scene and the imagery evoked is so powerful. Gandalf at his best. Author Reply: Thank you so much. What a joy to fill in these gaps with everything we know and can imagine about our beloved characters.

A great moment wonderfully written! It fits in perfectly (even seamlessly) with the quote at the end from "Return of the King". Author Reply: Thank you, Andrea. I saw the quote and thought, "Hmmm, I wonder..." !

Since I was caught by your latest one in this, I couldn't resist reading this one with Legolas (my fav character after Thranduil). Wow! What a fantastic and simple way to show a cultural difference. Loved it! Poor Sam would be horrified by Legolas's version. Author Reply: Thank you so much! I enjoy thinking about the differences (and similarities) between our beloved characters.

And again I rejoice that Gandalf and Narya had a part in that moment when hope flamed anew in all of those in the Army of the West! Author Reply: I rejoice, too, This was one more pivotal moment in which everything was balanced 'on the edge of a knife', and no mistake.

Powerful and plausible. A goodly combination. Author Reply: Thank you. I appreciate that very much.
