In the Mind's Eye  by shirebound 240 Review(s)

Oh my! Aragorn can't remember what the Nazgul did to him.

And Sam can't remember the words - which is good! But only WE know that (and the Witch King, of course).

So, on the one hand I am glad that Glorfindel senses that there is something wrong, on the other hand I don't want anyone to use the Black Speech.

Last but not least, just to be sure, a quote from your reply to Baggins Babe:

Never fear! Every tale eventually turns into a "Shirebound story".

If that isn't a good thing :-)

Author Reply: Darn that Black Speech... it's so full of mischief. I'm very glad you're coming along on this new adventure. I'm pleased and amazed to still be writing "Shirebound stories" after so many years. :-)

Poor Aragorn and poor Sam. The Nazgul scare me stiff.I can't wait to see what happens next.

Author Reply: Eeeee, I can't wait either! There are so many directions this could go, but I think I've finally chosen one.

Eek! Now that's way too short a chapter. LOL! Oh well, it just means more to come. Poor Aragorn. Glad Glorfindel was there though. I think, next to Elrond, he would've been the only one to realize something wasn't right with our Estel. Hope he can help Sam to remember but I have a feeling you're going to be spinning that one out for a while, else there won't be any story. *grin* You do h/c so well, Shirebound; I almost think you invented the genre.

Author Reply: Now *that* is a lovely thing to say, Fiondil. I've been in love with h/c since way before I ever heard of fanfic. (I am sorry about the short chapters, but with my wrist problems, I know it will help me to post more consistently if the pressure is off to work on longer ones.)

Scary! I just hope Sam is remembers the words, and Aragorn is strong enough not to fall under the Nazgūl's spell.

Author Reply: So much potential for evil here, but also so much potential for friends to each help out in their own way. :)

Oh man! Thank goodness for an Elve's perception. Now hopefully Sam will remember soon.

Great beginning. Can't wait for the next update! So glad that you're continuing this plot.

Author Reply: Thank you! Glorfindel couldn't keep this from happening, but at least he realizes there's something amiss.

Finally got a chance to read the first two chapters and oh, what a scary idea that the Nazgul is now inside Aragorn. *shivers* You described the Black Rider's POV so very well. *more shivers* But thank goodness Glorfindel has some idea that something isn't right. I can't wait to find out how they will manage to get the information they need from Sam.

Author Reply: The Professor wrote some scary characters! It's eerie to try to see events through their eyes. Thank you so much for reading. Dear Sam definitely holds one of the keys to getting this all sorted out.

Oh, this is lovely. I love how you write Glorfindel. I wish they had him in the movies. :(

Author Reply: Thank you. It took me many years to get more comfortable writing Elves. I'm so happy you like this portrayal of Glorfindel.

Eeeeps!!! This is very creepy, Shirebound! Of course I know it's a Shirebound story so things will be resolved in the end but what a frightening idea - those Ringwraiths get everywhere!

Can't wait to see where this goes - and of course, my favourite Elf if wary and suspicious. No wonder he's managed to survive all manner of things in his very long lives. :-)

Author Reply: LOL, never fear! Every tale eventually turns into a "Shirebound story". *grins*

Thank you so much for reading, BB. I don't believe I've tried to write Glorfindel before, except in a teensy ficlet somewhere. The Professor told us how unusual he is, and it's interesting to try to figure out how he might have been aware of this strange event.

Oh man... *rubs hands together* This is getting good!

I have a real weakness for Glorfindel in stories, and especially when worried about Aragorn---I think he's a character way too under-used. So it's very exciting to see him here!

I LOVE the fact that Aragorn just does not remember a thing and shook it all off as nothing... a momentary weakness. And yet wise Glorfindel is just not so sure... yep, I'm wondering mightily what's going to happen next. It's going to be interesting, I'll warrant.

I'm so looking forward to more of this!

Author Reply: Thanks, Lily! Glorfindel is rather a new character for me. He tried his best to get Aragorn and the hobbits safely to Rivendell, but so much was out of his control. I'm having a wonderful time with this and am soooo happy you're enjoying it. There will be a *lot* of people worried about Aragorn. *twirls*

omg so cool that Samwise remembered something of importance! Very interesting that Aragorn may be affected. I'm excited to see where this goes! Awesome start! Can't wait for more! :D

Author Reply: Thank you very much! The Professor let us know about Sam's excellent memory for verse (or spell, in this case)... it's just a case here of retrieving it.
