What a wonderful gift -- the stirring of memory!

Author Reply: Oh, yes. Ain't it the truth?

A rattle is an interesting heirloom!

Is it really Aragorn's rattle that his uncle kept safe after he had to leave abruptly?

However it is, I'm quite sure that Aragorn will give the rattle to HIS son when the time comes to continue the tradition :-)

Author Reply: I suspect that this rattle went through the hands of many of the Heirs of Isildur when they were toddlers, including those of Aragorn. And I'm certain you are right it will continue to be enjoyed by Aragorn and Arwen's own children and grandchildren as well.

Wonderful! Boromir is the perfect teacher: Don't look at what you still haven't learned but at what you have already accomplished. That makes learning much easier.

Author Reply: Certainly I've found this an excellent policy for me to follow in the days I taught in public schools.

And how Estel would rejoice to see his mother transformed into a shining, happy woman once again! Young Estel is really lovable.

Author Reply: Oh, but I am certain that you are right there, Andrea. And I've been in love with Aragorn now for over fifty years! Heh!

So, let the boys play as long as they can! When they get older they will know the sorrows their master has. But hopefully they will still retain their optimism.

Author Reply: I agree. Certainly in Tolkien's universe loss of hope seems to be the worst sin possible, as it leads to so many atrocities.

Hah!

I love that quote, and the spirit behind it.

Author Reply: Auntie Mame was one of my mother's favorite books as well as one of her inspirations. And she was right, too many people fail to appreciate the richness life offers them!

If all could always have the joy of children!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I so agree, Antane! Thanks so!

This is most beautiful and glad to read it again in here. Love it so much!

Author Reply: Thank you so! I believe that from time to time the Powers were delighted to give Frodo the comfort of good will associated with his old life.

Always love insight to what Boromir was feeling at that turning point. Thanks for this.

Author Reply: I do believe that he realized at the end that he had been taken by the Ring and that he regretted it fully. Certainly the Master indicated this was true. Thanks to you as well!

What a cute scene. :) I can see that happening.

Author Reply: I've always felt that Elanor came to love dogs, but then I do and it's easy to project my own loves on her, I find.
