Back to Middle Earth BINGO  by Dreamflower 63 Review(s)
AntaneReviewed Chapter: 13 on 3/18/2012
I really should be reading this next Sunday! We owe Frodo much. So few words but great.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: We do! Haiku are not my usual sort of poetic expression, but this one seemed to feel just right. And the number for the prompt came just as I finished up reading about that moment in my latest re-read of LotR.

Oh, absolutely delightful, even at midnight when I have to get up too early in the morning...

(I remember that story. What fun to hear the hobbit version!)

Lin

Author Reply: That story was one that quite stood out among all the other folktales in the same volume; I LOVE those old orange backed Childcrafts! I'm not sure that the hobbit version is quite as charming as Wanda Gag's beautifully charming and eccentric RL version-- but I am glad that it seems to come across as hobbity!

Raksha The DemonReviewed Chapter: 11 on 3/17/2012
Great little story, and very hobbity! I can just see little Sam Gamgee and his siblings hearing this story told at the table...

Author Reply: Thanks! Yeah, I think this one is a Shire standard, kind of like my "Tip and Tulip" stories...especially with the little moral of it-- which is that Big Folk are all well and good, but family and home are better...

AntaneReviewed Chapter: 9 on 3/11/2012
I would love to see the completed masterpiece! *prods you and Calla with furry foot*

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I would too! I am not sure if (as Calla's interpreter) I can live up to the hype of the original she described-- I am longing to try it, but a little fearful as well...

AntaneReviewed Chapter: 8 on 3/11/2012
Oh, that's sad... Poor Deagol but even more poor Smeagol.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Indeed. Poor Smeagol.

And yet he allowed himself to succumb...

Now that's interesting, a room that 'stinks' of pity and Saruman noticing it. I would think that Bilbo's bedroom would also then. Sharkey must have really had to hold his nose when he saw Frodo! :) No wonder he hated him.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: At one point JRRT says that the Maia recognize one another by scent. So this is my nod to that convention.

Saruman never understood the true value of Pity.

AntaneReviewed Chapter: 2 on 3/11/2012
I only recognized the main theme but I loved the Monkees and it was such a shock to hear of Davy's death. A nice tribute, my dear! Liked the first story too. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I had a lot of fun with that little parody.

It was a shock! It seems so odd that the baby of the group went first...

harrowcatReviewed Chapter: 11 on 3/10/2012
LOL!

Author Reply: *grin* 8-)

harrowcatReviewed Chapter: 10 on 3/10/2012
I do like the image of love as a spell of power.

Author Reply: It IS a spell of power, really. I'd never realized before just how poetic JRRT's own recounting of this was, until I tried to do something with it.

harrowcatReviewed Chapter: 9 on 3/10/2012
And a fun recounting too.

Author Reply: Thanks! I was glad to be able to get two prompts into one entry!
